abstract = "The availability of satellite images from a same region of the
Earth, spaced in the time, allows the detection of land use and
land cover changes and the future scenarios structuration by
simulation models of landscape. This paper aims to organize a
spatial dynamic model to project a future scenario of the areas
with native Atlantic Forest biome in the municipality of Roca
Sales / RS for the year 2020. The dynamic model was organized from
the temporal analysis of native forest areas between 1989 to 2009
years, done by recursive comparison of Landsat 5 classified
images. The spatial dynamic model was structured on Dinamica
software, based on Cellular Automata. The results showed that the
abandoned agricultural areas in Roca Sales are being progressively
converted to native forest areas, mainly in areas with high
elevation and high slopes. The native forests increased 76.45% on
the landscape analyzed in 20 years. By scenario generated to 2020
year, with the spatial dynamic modeling, the future tendencies
point for maintenance regeneration process of the natural forest.
The results can serve as a tool for decision support to develop
programs order to environmental conservation and the adequate use
of land use in landscape ever-changing.",
